Now you can mix and match different brand and speed components.
The ShiftMate is a shifting interface device for mating different bicycle shifting components and wheelsets. Using a ratio changing pulley, the ShiftMate adapts different component brands and models to make the proper correction in the amount of cable pull needed for perfect shifting. There are no compromises when using a ShiftMate. Your shifting will perform equally or better than original factory components.
ShiftMate features and benefits:
CNC machined
Sealed ball bearing
Reduces cable friction and cable housing length
Wide range of component mates & interfacing
Small compact design only 12 grams
Save money by upgrading over time or using components and wheelsets you already own

Question and Answers
Q: I have a friend who rides an all Shimano bike with a Campagnolo wheelset and claims the shifting seems to work. Would using a ShiftMate improve his shifting?
A: Absolutely! Some people claim that mixing wheelsets without any other modifications to the shifting system will work. We strongly disagree. The component manufacturers have engineered their systems to be incompatible. Mixing wheelsets without any other modifications is similar to operating a shifting system which has been poorly tuned. The cassette spacing is different between manufacturers and you are not going to experience the potential of what your groupset can offer. When using a ShiftMate you will have factory precision shifting and will experience much crisper, precise, and quieter shifting.
Q: How does ShiftMate performance compare to aftermarket cassettes with modified spacing?
A: It depends on the quality of the cassette. A lot of aftermarket cassette’s are of a sub-standard quality compared to OEM cassettes. The ShiftMate will allow you to use factory cassettes for optimal performance. The ShiftMate is also less than half the cost of many aftermarket cassettes.
Q: How does the ShiftMate performance compare to modifications where you modify the cable fixing bolt attachment anchor location?
A: Far better! Changing the cable anchor point by clamping the cable to a different location in our opinion gives unacceptable results. When designing the ShiftMate we tested a number of different design concepts for changing the cable pull ratio. One of the methods tested was an adjustable anchor point system. By changing the anchor point, the travel rate of the derailleur parallelogram gets messed up and the derailleur travel between shifts will not be linear and even across the entire cassette. Our testing found the results of using this method to be unacceptable to our high standards. Even though some people claim success, shifting performance is compromised. Also, the cable gets twisted at a hard angle and further degrades shifting performance by adding friction.
Does the ShiftMate easily become contaminated with dirt?
A: No. Because the cable wraps around the pulley, most of the cable groove remains covered by the cable. This has the effect of keeping debris out of the cable slot. Also, because the ShiftMate is mounted outside the tire path, it tends to collect very little dirt.
